Fibroscan

This is a technique which assess the “springiness or stiffness” of tissues. It measures the speed vibrations travel through tissue, this is a surrogate for the degree of fibrous tissue within a substance and is used to measure the degree of scarring. Commonly it is used as a non-invasive assessment of liver scarring to establish whether people have or are at risk of cirrhosis of the liver.
